Quality assurance

From repeated manual checks to automated test runs.

Tamás worked on updating, extending and maintaining a German client's component system based on Vue.js 2.7. Alongside the development, he introduced automated end-to-end tests that check how the application works.

This project is part of Tamás's earlier professional work; the contribution described here was not made under an operandor engagement.

Component development and E2E test automation
Period
2022–2023
Scope
About 70 Cypress/Puppeteer E2E test cases
Vue.js 2.7Composition APICypressPuppeteer

The regular checks were a task that could be automated.

Developing the component system further also meant checking how the existing features worked. Using Cypress and Puppeteer, Tamás wrote about seventy test cases that checked the application's user flows.

The repeated check could be done in a shorter run.

A documented result of the automation work in 2022–2023 is that a regular manual regression check cycle of roughly four hours was replaced by a twenty-minute automated E2E run. This result applies to that check cycle; it does not mean a reduction of the whole testing work or of development time.
