System integration

A Microsoft 365 calendar connection, built by extending the existing system.

Tamás built a .NET-based integration platform that connected the earlier .NET Framework clients to the Microsoft Graph API through modern .NET 8 services. Beyond handling calendar events, the work also covered operational functions of the background services.

This project is part of Tamás's earlier professional work; the contribution described here was not made under an operandor engagement.

The legacy clients had to be connected to a modern calendar service.

The task was to link an existing .NET Framework environment with the Microsoft Graph API. The solution connected the two technology environments through a separate, modern service layer.

The whole lifecycle of meetings had to be taken into account.

The development covered more than ten special cases. These included organiser and attendee flows; accepted, tentatively accepted and declined invitations; private and recurring meetings; and updates, deletions and time zone differences.

Control of the background services became part of the solution.

Tamás implemented start, stop and status check functions, as well as automatic service recovery and externally initiated restarts. Besides the behaviour the calendar integration needed, the finished platform thus also supported managing the services.
